Caffeine toxicity is treatable, and most dogs that receive prompt veterinary care survive. However, the prognosis worsens with delayed treatment, larger doses, and in dogs that develop seizures or severe cardiac abnormalities. There is no specific antidote for caffeine, so treatment focuses on removing unabsorbed caffeine from the body and providing supportive care for symptoms. Prevention through keeping all caffeine-containing products securely away from dogs is the best approach, as caffeine provides no benefit to dogs and poses only risk.
